26th/27th September 2024 – University of Oxford

The Inaugural Annual Podium Conference on Sports Medicine & Technology  was a successful event which delved into the development, application and validation of cutting-edge wearable, vision, biomarker, AI, and robotic technologies aimed at transforming sport safety. The two-day conference covered a broad spectrum of sports contexts, including youth, community, and professional levels, highlighting innovations designed to enhance the safety and performance of athletes across all ages and competitive environments.

Our Inaugural Annual event was held at the University of Oxford on 26th and 27th September 2024, and was hosted by the Podium Institute Director, Professor Constantin Coussios OBE FREng at the Richard Doll Lecture Theatre in Headington, Oxford.

 

Keynote Speaker

The Conference Keynote was delivered by Professor Andrew Zisserman FRS.
Professor Zisserman was awarded the Royal Society’s 2023 Bakerian Medal for research on computational theory and commercial systems for geometrical analysis of images, and for being a pioneer and leading scientist in machine learning for vision, especially image recognition.

Invited speakers included Professor David Sharp, Dr Lee Goldstein, Dr Mazdak Ghajari, Mr Tim Lawrence, Dr Natalie Voets, Professor Ben Seymour, Professor Lucy Bowes, and Professor Keith Stokes, among others.
